installation,alwaysusestandardnon-amplied

functionatall.AmpliedY-harnessesweredeveloped
severalyearsagotoboostthesignalforsomeolder
PCMsystemsandshouldnotbeusedwithSpektrum
equipment.Whenconvertinganexistingmodelto
Spektrum,becertainthatallampliedY-harnessesand/
orservoextensionsarereplacedwithconventional,non-
ampliedversions.
Receiver Power System Requirements
Inadequatepowersystemsthatareunabletoprovide
thenecessaryminimumvoltagetothereceiverduring
ighthavebecomethenumberonecauseofin-ightfail-
ures.Someofthepowersystemcomponentsthataffect
theabilitytoproperlydeliveradequatepowerinclude:
•Receiverbatterypack(numberofcells,capacity,cell
type,stateofcharge)
•TheESC’scapabilitytodelivercurrenttothereceiverin
electricaircraft
•Theswitchharness,batteryleads,servoleads,regula-
torsetc.
TheAR10000hasaminimumoperationalvoltageof3.5
volts;itishighlyrecommendedthepowersystembe
testedpertheguidelinesbelow.Performthefollowing
groundtestwithavoltagealwaysover4.8V,asthiscould
compensateforthedischargeorloadthatisgreater
duringight.
Power System Guidelines
Whenbuildingalargeorcomplexairplanewithmultiple,
high-torqueservos,useavoltmetersuchasHAN172.
Plugthevoltmeterintoanopenchannelportinthere-
ceiverandwiththesystemon,loadthecontrolsurfaces
(applypressurewithyourhand)whilemonitoringthevolt-
ageatthereceiver.Thevoltageshouldremainabove4.8
voltsevenwhenallservosareheavilyloaded.
2.Pleasebearinmindthecablediameterofthereceiver
battery.Thestandardreceiverbatterycableisgoodfor
3Aandpeaksof5A.Ifyouareusingstrongerservos,you
couldhavevoltageproblems,ifthecablesdonotmeet
thecorrectdimensions.
3.Ifyouareusingavoltageregulator,performthistest
for5minutes.Withthatyoucanseethattheregulator
keepsitsperformanceoveralongerperiod.
4.Forcomplexorbigscalemodels,wehighly
recommendtwoormultiplereceiverbatteries.
Pleasefollowalsoherethetestprocedureasdescribed
innumber1toensurethereceivervoltageisover4,8
voltsunderallconditions.
CAUTION: IfusingNiMHpacks,alwaysensurethe
batteryisfullycharged.Itisrecommendedthata
fastchargerwithameterthatmonitorstheinputmAhbe
